Valcamonica Rock Art Fieldworks

In the beautiful setting of the Valley of Signs, which has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979, the Centro Camuno di Studi Preistorici (lit., “Camunian Centre for Prehistoric Studies”, also known as CCSP) and the Archaeological Cooperative “Le Orme dell’Uomo” (lit., “Footsteps of Man”) are organizing two survey campaigns, the “Valcamonica Rock Art Fieldworks”, aimed at documenting the engraved areas of Middle Valcamonica.

The fieldwork activities will involve the area of the Natural Reserve of Rock Engravings of Ceto, Cimbergo, and Paspardo, which for over 30 years has been hosting two rock art study, documentation and analysis camps, organized and conducted by CCSP and “Le Orme dell’Uomo”, under a concession from the Archaeological Superintendency of Lombardy.

The Valcamonica Rock Art Fieldworks are aimed at the overall documentation of the rock art and of the territory in which it is embedded. They generally take place between late July and mid-August and are open to students, researchers, and enthusiasts.
